  1. I have a DVD-RW / CD-RW combo on my desktop as a second drive. The other one is DVD-ROM. DVD-RW is HL DT ST DVD-RW GWA 4040B.

I have copied CDs on this drive before and make CDs out of music on my hard-drive. But of lately, I have not been able to author any CDs. I can still authur DVDs on the same drive, but not the CDs....

    Any suggestions..??? Thanks in advance.

i had this same problem in the past, after a while my drive stopped recording cds.

I reinstalled INCD and that solved the problem.

    hope this will help

    You're welcome!

just let us know if it worked. if your drive came with nero 5.0 i reckon incd should be on the nero installation cd, it was on mine.

  8. Installed InCD. (it was with my Nero 5.5 CD). But still no luck....

I tried authoring a CD by Real Player, but still could not do it. Irony is that I am able to copy DVDs on the same drive. Any suggestions..??
    Thanks

the same happened with me on my lg 4081b,reinstalling incd solved my problem.

does it display any message when you're unable to author the cd?

try doing it with nero,if it fails it will ask to save a log of what happened during the process, then post that log here and someone wiser than me might solve your problem by looking at the log.

if your software is not "communicating" with the drive this might solve it

this utility mediates between your software and your drive,if by any reason its gone, it might be the reason why its not burning cds.

that same utility will enable you to find out if your version of ASpi that you have on your pc is the right one

Im not an expert on this things, just sharing stuff that i think are right

    good luck

  11. No, the whole process goes on as it should. There is no error message after the burn is completed. It says " burn successful", but when I get the CD it is still blank. Same happens with RealPlayer burning.

You can't they don't exist. There's a CD+G format which is typically used for karaoke CDs, but these are just ordinary CD-R/RW discs.

Sounds like you are only doing the "test" burn and not actually burning the disc. check you options when you enter the burn menu...there are check boxes for burning the disc and testing.
