I just bought a Firewire-800 (1394b) enclosure based on an Initio bridgeboard.
I was wondering if people have found Oxford or Initio better or worse than each
other in any way for Firewire-800.

1394b is still pretty new and not very widespread at all so I don't think I've seen anything on which bridge chipsets have more support. If the enclosure manufacturer is reputable then the bridgeboard they use is probably decent.

Initio and oxford solutions should be equivalent for firewire-800 chipsets. There is problem affecting both chipset brands if the host PC is WXP SP2. This problem is fixed by a firmware upgrade. Read more about it in here: http://fwdepot.com/firewiredepot/firmware/firmware.html
