i don't know which forum this should be in. i'm a newbie at this stuff and don't think i sould post this in one of the other forums.

i am trying to back up my home movies using dvd shrink3.1. When i do so, it works fine for the first playback but then on the second or third time it begins to skip and blur the image.

i have know idea why it does this.
if someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

He means the DVD+/-R media you used.....................................

More details: media used? burner used? burning program used? burn speed?

Also, please put your computer specs in your profile, it helps in answering your question(s).

This is the right question to answer. Also, does it skip/blur towards the end of the film, from beginning or what ?

    i am burning dvd-r 2x TDK
    nec dvd-rw nd-2500a usb 2.0
    it writes at 32x

i watched the first ten or fifteen minutes and it skipped pack and forth and the picture became blurred

i don't know much about using dvd shrink 3.1
i set it on region free
i have it perform a deep analysis and also put it on low priority mode
i set it to burn at 2x because my burner is only that speed

i use sharpie's to label my disks not adhesive

  9. ?

NEC 2500 burns up to 8x for DVD-R, not 2x. What did you BURN with? DVD Decrypter or Nero? DVD Shrink doesn't burn, it just compresses the video for you. I have a NEC 2500 and I've burned TDK -Rs with no problems. I'm using a modified firmware but the discs should probably burn fine with the original firmware if you haven't upgraded it yet. Either way I'd suggest upgrading your firmware for bitsetting, faster burn speeds, etc. Check the cdfreaks.com NEC forum for firmware to use.

Also, do the DVDs skip when you play them on your computer and/or other DVD players?

i have powerDVD installed on my computer
when i put in the "burned backup"
it sayes "the DVD disc might have been damaged so as to inhibit playback operation."
i looked at the disk and there are no skratches on it
i clicked on "detailed" and it sayes "please clean the surface of the disk if possible. If it has been scratched, it might not be readable.
