  1. i am eager to try this i know this sounds silly it may work if your timing is right and deadon..

i need some to record a 2 hour movie in HQ mode with the ilo dvdrhd04 now start the recording in 1 hour mode when the disc is about to stop with maybe 3 minutes left press PAUSE..now pause the tivo aswell..

now take out the dvd+rw disk then put in a freshone let the recorder reconize it until it say dvd+rw on the display screen on the ilo now press press record on the ilo then press play on the tivo or cable box.

you should start the recording where you left off.

now after you have both 1 hour recordings take them both and put in the pc and back them up as dvd-video files on tmpgenc dvd author this will turn them into mpeg's

now use mpeg vcr to join the video..

then burn the video...then test it out and see how it works this is all just a great idea..

and remember dual layer media can hold 2 hours of HQ video at 9.5mbs or 4 hours of SP video quality at 4.8mbs..

i need someone to test this out i may try it to tommorow as i have a stack of dual layer media and bored as hell and way to much free time on my hand..

  2. That should work, but I don't think it will be worth the effort. Tivo in Best mode only has a bit rate of 5800 kbps.

Since you are going to be editing the video anyway, I would think it would be a good idea to overlap the disc 1 ending and the disc 2 beginning (have 5 or 10 seconds of the ending of disc 1 at the beginning of disc 2) so you can get a perfect meld of the two in the editor.

  4. harpmaker thats a good idea..

i found out about an hour ago i can record more than a hour of HQ video to the HDD so..

i will record it to the hdd then split the video to 2 dvd+rw's then merge them with womble mpeg vcr then finally burn it with tmpgenc..

i also found out when recording to the HDD for doing something like that its a lot easier for me to do instead of having 2 remotes at a time
