  1. Hi, this is a diffcult one I suspect:

I have created a DVD of a 3 day work conference that conatains menus and sub menus. All excellent. Problem is that I have had to re-edit one of the video clips contained in one of the sub-menus, as someone said something they shouldn't have - and I had to edit it out. I've now done that by copying the vob file and cutting out the section.

Is there anyway simple of rebuilding my DVD such that I replace the original video clip with my re-edited clip BUT still retain the menu and video structure as is? In other words, swop out that one video segment with my redited one?

I'm trying to avoid having to rebuild the entire DVD from scratch using DVD Architect - it's very time consuming. If anyone can help, I'd be very grateful. Cheers

Author the new video just by itself with no menu's or anything. If not already, name these new vobs to those you want to replace.

Take your original VIDEO_TS directory and replace those old vobs with the new ones.

Now run IFOUpdate and it will update your existing IFO to account for the different video. The menu's should all function as normal.

If you cut out any footage then your chapter selection menu, if you have one, will be off. The only way to correct this to re-do the whole project.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I may have to redo project as the video is long and yes, chapters are in place and critical.......

At least I know what to do for future ref, so thanks for that.

Wait! You might not have to redo the whole project.
You can try using vobblanker (free). If all you want to do is cut something out, this will work very well. Open the DVD in vobblanker, go to the PGC you want to edit, edit, click process, and you're done. Everything should work exactly as before.
If you've already edited the VOB file and it's more complicated than just cutting a little snippet, then you can still do what you want in vobblanker. Vobblanker lets you replace a cell by another one. You have to find the cell in the original DVD where you took the stuff out, and replace it by the one you created. Vobblanker lets you do that fairly easily. If you're interested, I'll give you more infoe.
