    Hi,

A few years ago i made a holiday dvd from a Hi8 tape. Now years later i found out about NeatVideo plugin and about color correction. I would like to redo the main movie and clean it up. Unfortunately i don't have the project files anymore that i used to author the dvd. I still have my original footage, but i don't want to redo the dvd structure.
Is it possible to decompose the dvd and replace only the main movie in the dvd? I want to keep the structure and menus. In the movie nothing will be changed except quality (noise removal and color correction).
I hope someone can give me advice.

    Thanks.

Edit Homemade DVD [GUIDE] - decompile disc
Restore, Filter, Improve Quality [DISCUSSION] - lots of advice for restoring video here, too.

Make a new menu. Generally very difficult or simply impossible to majorly redo menu without source files.

  3. Yes, use this guide:

    http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides/VobBlanker/adding_menus/index.htm

This guide is meant to re-insert a DVDShrink re-authored (main movie) DVD back into the original structure (with menus). The principle is the same though. The parts relevant to you start at Step 6. Once you have processed a titleset, you need to author it (with ReJig, for example) to be able to import the VTS_01_0.IFO into VobBlanker.

That should work. It's been quite a while though since I've done it (having moved on to AVCHD/BD). So someone correct me if I'm wrong or missed something.

And welcome to the forum. Good luck.

Thank you all for the fast answers. How could i forget VOBBlanker? . I will give that a try.
I wonder if the chapter points will still work? It should be i think since the movie length is unchanged.
In worse case i will reauthor my holiday dvd then...i do hope not. Thanks again.

Yes, of course they will. Demux the whole video with PGCDemux. Then redo the video portion however you like. When the time comes to reauthor it with Muxman don't forget to load the celltimes.txt (the chapters) in File->Import Chapters, and then after doing the 'Replace' step with VobBlanker, the chapters will be as they were before. If you change the length of the video by, for example, cutting out scenes, you might have trouble with the chapters, but you haven't said anything about doing that.
