  1. Is there such a program out there for making the best quality burns with the least amount of skips,, etc... I have top quality media so I;m looking for a matching software.
The reason I ask is I burned onto a DVD-R 4.7 with Nero 6 and I went to check the last scene on the DVD too see how it burned at the end od the DVD and it basically froze and skipped. Now I played the same DVD on my computer, went to the same scene and it was perfectly fine. Now my stand alone dvd player is not picky and doesn't skip on the slightest scratch but I don;t really know what the problem is. If I can get the best burning software, best media, good burner I will be able to tell if it is the software or the dvd player.
    Thanks to all:

    Used
    NEC 2500A 1.06
    4.7 Tayo Yuinden DVD-R 8x media
    Nero 6.0

It could be that your player just doesn't like the media.

    Things to try

    1. Playing on another player
    2. Burn smaller - don't use the outer edges of the disk
    3. Burn slower - burn at 4x or even 2x (god forbid)

DVD Burners/ROM drives tend to have better laser pick up than standalone players, so I'm not surprised that it plays OK in your PC.

The 'Best Media' is the media that burns and plays for you, not the guy next door. I'm still using Ritek G04s. Haven't had a coaster, all play fine. Until they fail, I'm not changing, especially since I have a 50% coaster rate on Fuji TY japanese media.

    Flawless burning!!!!
    It just doesn't exist.
    However,,,,,,
Barring the media, since it is TY, why don;t you backup your DVDs with Shrink to ISO and burn the ISO with DVDDecrypter. You can automate this operation inside Shrink so after the firs burn, ( you have to tell Decrypter which is you burning drive letter ) it will do it automatically. Assuming you do have a ROM and a RW drive in the same machine.
Creates perfect non skipping disk for me even with lesser media than TY.

Best part is both progs are free. Use the very latest versions.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

Skipping and freezing towards then end of a disc usually means poor media. Is it genuine TY media or have you got a batch of fakes? I was given a disc by someone that had a TY media code, but it most certainly wasn't genuine, it was the worst I had ever seen for errors.

  5. I had a situation where XP's Service Pack 2 caused similar issues to yours with my DVDs using a previously (before SP2 installed) reliable media.

I doubt that it is Nero. But it is simple to try decrypter to see.

No media is perfect. Some burners don't like TY and don't give good burns. I know mine doesn't, neither does Lord Smurf's. Could be fake, could be a bad batch, could be incompatability. Don't assume it isn't media just because it has TY in the code.
