  1. Hello everyone. I burn VCDs using Nero and for some reason when I play them they are a bit messed up. The sound is synced with the video but sometimes the frame will freeze for 2-3 seconds every now and then but the audio keeps going while its frozen. I know thats its not the media I'm using and I know that its not the mpeg file, it has to be something in the burning process. I tried switching from "disc-at-once" to "track-at-once" but it still does the freezing thing. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Hi!
Is this a problem with many VCD or just this one you are trying to burn? I have burned VCD with Nero, but I would recommend you to try VCDEasy. IMHO VCDEasy is the best program for making correct and functionally VCD or SVCD.

I used to have this problem with dark scenes freezing.
It was because my Cyberhome DVD player did not like VCDs encoded with TMPGENC. Using another encoder cured the problem.

You didn't say how you encoded the VCD or what you are trying to play it on.

I was using TMPGENC also. I didn't check to see if it plays like that on my computer but it does that on my standalone (Toshiba SD2800). Thats interesting, i'll have to try another encoder. Can you recommend a better one? Does VCDEasy encode to mpg for sources such as divx and xvid?

This problem only happened on a Cyberhome DVD player viewing TMPGENC VCDs.
I then used Mainconcept to encode VCDs. The quality was just as good if not better and the encoding time was much faster.

The problem did not happen when viewing TMPGENC encoded SVCDs or DVDs on the Cyberhome.

Try and see if there is a firmware update for your Toshiba.

VCDEasy does not encode MPEGs. It just authors an existing compliant MPG file to (S)VCD (with interaction, menus, etc)
