I have been converting avi movies using tmpgenc for a while now and I recently obtained a copy of MyDVD Deluxe 6 which can convert and author avi's in about half the time it takes for tmpgenc to encode. My question is this does anyone know if the conversion quality is any better or worse using MyDVD as opposed to Tmpgenc? Any views on this would be great.

    Cheers

TMPGEnc is slow. Other commercial encoders are all quite a bit faster for the same quality.

MyDVD, however, I know very little about. Can't say if it does a good job or not.

  3. I have both and find TMPGEnc's quality to be better because you can tweak the settings, with MyDVD your stuck with 720x480(576) and four quality settings(EP,LP,SP,HQ).
Now if you ask me to choose between TDA or MyDVD 6 I would choose MyDVD 6 because it has more features.
