    Hi,

I've been trying to do some reading until my account could be active, but I am still stumped. I purchased i DVD Burner http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6811809&type=product&id=1091100597901 Igot all formatted disc (DVD-R etc). I am having issues burning movies with Nero. Everytime it gets to the end of burning process, I get an error stating that the movie could not be burned on this type of disc. The movies are in MPEG format and .AVI. I guess what I'm asking is, all my movies are in those two formats and could you guys help me out on getting these movies on a dics?

Am I missing a setting in Nero?

    Thanks

  2. mpeg and avi are raw formats. you now need to author these files to turn them into dvd compliant video. there are various programs out there that do this.

  3. It's the authored file and resultant dvd video_ts folder that get's burned to disc for set top use. Thus you will have the original footage plus the authored dvd on your HD.

So you guys mean these movies need to be encoded/authored. What are the best programs out there that will be compatible for both .AVI & .MPEG?

You can't go wrong with TMPGEnc encoder and TMPGEnc DVD Author.

The main thing you need to do is get your videos to compliant DVD format. 'What is DVD" to the left will tell you what's needed. Then you look in 'Convert' and 'Author' just below.

Sorry, it takes quite a bit of reading.

I use TMPGEnc Plus to encode and TMPGEnc DVD Author to author.

Take a look here, here, here, here, here, here and here, and then sign and initial here
    If in doubt, Google it.
