Hello,

Just went over to the xbox forums to post a question about my buggy wireless router. The tech forum is moderated there and requires a "REVIEW" before its posted! WTF???? I thought the whole point of forums was for rapid feedback????

I mean thats crazy. Waiting for it to be ok'd????

Well I can't get the adapter to recognise the dns server. Someone mentioned resetting the wireless router to the factory defaults to fix the problem. But I really would hate to reset everything on it.

And shadowmistress - I don't really know. It just said that the tech forum had to review every new thread before posting.

Don't you have a laptop with ethernet? Try hooking the laptop up to the gaming adapter and seeing if net access works for you. If it works for the laptop it should work for the XBOX. If it doesn't then something needs to be reconfigured.

Nope - just a wifi card for the laptop. Besides thats a P2 that hasn't been configured properly for my wireless router.

I'll figure it out again eventually. It just sucks that I can go on LIVE for weeks at a time and then I have to fight it to get it back on......

If you're worried about settings, I BELIEVE (don't quote me because I use mostly Linksys) that somewhere in the router config there's an option to BACK UP to a file. That way if you screw something up, you can just restore the config and you haven't lost anything. You gotta tinker a little bit, that's what computers are for. :P

Well I went ahead and did the reset. NO LUCK!!! :P

Man I hate this wireless crap. When I can get it to work its flawless. It's the other 50% of the time that it fucks up.....

How do I set up a direct connect for my xbox???

Isn't there some way to assign it its own IP and stuff????? I'd love to be able to just set it once and forget about.

Can I tell it where my router is and all the info with out it doing an auto check?????

No, you want Infrastructure, not As Hoc. Ad hoc is between wirless devices where an access point (or wireless router) is not part of the network. I'm not 100% certain, but I think the XBOX has it's own IP already, I don't think it uses DHCP.

I can understand each post being reviewed. This would be to prevent people asking for warez, or discussing anything illiegal.

However, i can see the disadvantage of it. It kinda sucks if you need a instant reply or your question is of urgency.

It means more work for the moderators, just imagine the time it would take to review each post individually considering the amont of posts made per day. Thats gonna take a while.

You never know, you could be waiting for a couple of months till its your turn for your post to be reviewed :P :P :P
