  1. While watching DVDs on my machine, Apple's DVD Player 'pauses' or 'pulses' - 2 to five seconds of replay, followed by a 1/4 second of freeze frame. The audio never pauses during this time and it seems to happen whether I'm watching the original, a backup, or files on the HD.

    I've gone to all the usual sites and can't find a similar problem. My next guess is that it may be QuickTime?

    Thoughts?

    more info please:

    Model of your computer, latest OS you are running,
    amount of Hard drive space, amount of FREE hard drive
    space, are you on a laptop or a desktop, amount of ram,
    you have, version of DVD Player you are using.

    Are you having any other apps open while this happens?
    with Activity Monitor launched and playing/watching this
    problem VIDEO_TS folder, what does it tell you as far
    as open processes and available memory?

    CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz
    L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 1.5 GB
    Bus Speed: 900 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.1.5f1

    OSX 10.3.8. 250gb HD with 120gb free (MAY be fragmented?).

    Nothing running except DVD Player. Turned off all the visible apps and it's still happening. I'll snapshot a Process Window and post soon.

    This can happen when sound is encoded with 44,1kHz instead of 48kHz in the MPEG/VOB stream. Kinda do-it-yourself DVD?
