Virtualdub is the only one Archos has validated to make files that are in snyc (audio/video). Programs like Dr DIVx do not work on the archos unit. I have the AV400 and the snyc issues have not been corrected with firmware, in other words their idea of MPEG 4 is not the known or accepted standard.

  4. This is how I do it. I rip a DVD to a single VOB file then use Dr. DivX to convert to Mpeg4 avi. Then I use the Archos converter software to convert to the Archos standard. Works fine for me. Now if I have and Mpeg2 file I have to convert it to Mpeg then I can use the Archos to convert to the Archos standard. I use Sony Video Studio to convert to Mpeg.

  6. Archos uses divx or xvid formats. I have used AVS Video Converter successfully with an Archos 340. The software is easy to use and has worked very well.
