  2. Hmm, you need one that does dvd recorders, are there any?

Interesting, you can also get another remote from Panasonic for about that much money.

  3. One For All remotes have the highest compatibility. Panasonic has their DVD recorders on the same code as their DVD players, so it shouldn't be hard to find something that will work. The record button won't work, last I knew they still haven't set up universal remotes to work with DVD recorders. I have one that's only a few months old and the record button doesn't work. If you get a learning remote and you have the original remote you can teach it record, along with navigator and other stuff a universal won't do, that's what I did. I have an E-20 remote that will work with it I will sell you cheap, PM me if you want it.

  6. I use the 8811, works fine and is a learning remote. Unless you have the original or can go to an electronics store and access one to teach the remote some of the functions, there will be some stuff you won't be able to do.

  7. You may also want to consider getting the remote for the E55 instead of the E50. I picked one up from Panasonic as I liked the layout better (no more hidden buttons) and it never hurts to have a spare.

  8. I went to my local BestBuy and bought a couple of the original Panasonic DVD recorder remotes for $5 a piece.

Apparently they sold their discontinued/closeout/openbox DVD recorders and didn't include the original remotes with the purchase. They ended up having a whole shopping cart full of original remotes ... all I had to do was route through them and find the ones I wanted, and worked out a price with the manager.
