  1. Ever had one of those weeks? You know, the ones where nothing goes right and a years worth of bad luck is dished out in a matter of days?

Last week was not a good one. Some of the "highlights" were...

My poor mother had a fainting fit (72 years old) and bashed her head against a fire hydrant. I'm looking after her but she's lucky to be alive.

Meanwhile I had been too busy to see a dentist about a lost filling, and it of course, became infected. By the time I got some antibiotics the infection had blown the side of my face out like a basketball - I was getting plenty of weird looks in the city. I also had to take one morning off to see a surgeon about a procedure I may need in a few months.

I found out that one of my Aunt's is dying of brain cancer and one of my brothers rang down from Queensland to say he is being investigated for a serious disease.

    Talk about dumb bad luck!

Of course there were other minor things like I lost my wallet, my car is still losing coolant despite getting serviced the previous week for $610 and I can't afford to be without it at the moment. These are small insignificant matters compared to the others but I mentioned them just to let you know the green eye of the little yellow god is well and truely focused in my direction :/

    <sigh>

Oh offline, I feel for you, man. I know how when things hit all at the same time it can spin you. You have my compassion. Hang in there. That which does not kill you only makes you stronger.

infected tooth, swollen face, lost wallet, bum car? it could be worse. you could have bashed your head on a fire hyrdrant, or you could be dying of brain cancer..

My deepest sympathies, the only advice that I can offer is to get some rest. All of these events will take a toll on you with you not even noticing until too late.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

deepest sympathies on the bad news mate . I was a broken man when I lost a Sister and Grandfather at the same time a few years back. I'd never really experienced death regarding a close relative when I was old enough to understand it

I'd take a break from everything else and concentrate on things that matter. I hope it gets better for you soon

  9. Thanks all.

ShadowMistress, there is a lot of truth in what you
said. Bad experiences can help you bounce back
stronger even though at the time you feel quite
    different.

Sorry to hear about your Sister and Grandfather
MackemX. I guess you went through hell that time!

Appreciate the words Russ. Zapper, I'm taking your
    advice and having a rest.

Your car losing coolant is not really that bad unless it's gaining oil

That sucks offline. Good Luck, things will get better.

  11. My deepest sympathies to you offline. At times life sure does suck. As for your car I would check if their work had a warranty. For $610 they should make it right.

They will, thanks. It's just a matter of when I can find the time to leave it. It was the cars 1st major service so I asked them to replace all the items listed in the schedule plus anything that might be a problem within 6 months. I mentioned the coolant issue. They had it for 8 hours while I spent a small fortune in taxi fairs.

It is a minor thing really, compared to everything else, but it came as
icing on the cake so to speak. I guess I'm just stressed out.

  16. Offline, I feel sorry for you and your family. But even hardship can bring good things. For instance it can bring hope and strength. If not to the people involved, then to others.

For instance I have been having a fairly down week (mostly because of an ex-girlfriend), but reading this thread has given me a new outlook. All my complaints are second tier to real problems. And for that I thank you.
