    whats the best thing to clean a TFT/LCD screen ,mine is getting mucky

  2. Usually a slighly damp (not wet!) cloth will do the trick. Make sure it isn't scratchy!

    Failing that, if you've got the typical brown-grey streaks that seem to afflict TFTs, get some isopropanol (propan-2-ol) and wipe the monitor down with a bit of that. Be careful that this does not damage your monitor! Test on a corner first! I managed fine with it on all the TFTs I have cleaned up, but I did hear once that someone made a bit of a mess.

    The Manual that comes with my Toshiba Laptop says..
    You can use glass cleaner on the display. Spray a small amount of cleaner on a soft, clean cloth and wipe the screen gently with the cloth.
    CAUTION: Never spray cleaner directly onto the computer.

  5. I have heard that you should never use solvents on a TFT monitor since they penetrate the plastic and ruin the display behind it. However, I do use a tiny bit of isopropanol once every six months or so to really get the monitor looking new again.
