  1. I'm off sick and sent daughter to get some DVD-r. She got some TDK that says 8x, so I figure like cd-r 8 is better than 4. In print so small I could hardly read it said "8x or greater burner required". I'm new to all this so I'm pretty confused. Do I send her back or give it a shot? Does this mean that this media is acutall poorer than 2x?

  2. I believe what the fine print was telling you was to make sure you upgrade the firmware on the burner to the newest available from the company that makes your burner.

While it should work at lower speeds, usually the 'fine print' mentions that without a firmware update you may expirence more burn errors even burning at lower speeds.

Find out the manufactor of the burner, upgrade the firmware (even if it doesn't burn at 8x) and all should be fine.

  3. It most likely means that in order to burn at 8x, you must have a burner that supports 8x or greater. In other words it's telling you that a 4x burner will not burn the disc at 8x. It doesn't mean that you need an 8x burner period.
It doesn't matter who you vote for. The government always gets in.

  4. I know you're not supposed to post to your own thread this quickly but you all are right and I feel kind of silly, so I'll close this and no one else will waste their time. It really reads strange, and I've been off sick for 2 weeks - not thinking straight. Thanks for the help.
