i just recently acquired a goodmans 40gb pvr, however, although all advertising states that it is avi, mpeg4 and wmv compatible, you still have to use the bundled software to convert file so that they are playable on the device.
this conversion can take aroung 10hrs for a 1.9gb file even on my 3.5ghz pc and the conversion quality is very blocky and the sound is always out of sync.
i've had better and faster success using windows media encoder 9 but all the produced files play without any sound on the media player. this is because the gpdr40 uses the ima-apdcm audio codec.
does anybody know of a piece of software that will produce a file with iso mpeg4 video and adpcm sound. i've tried stoick video converter but it will not allow me to combine the two codecs. are there any alternatives ?![]()

This player is the same as the Mustek PVR-H140.
I've had mine several months, and have not yet found a way to convert without using the supplied software.
In addition, the failure rate on these is high - mine has got to be sent back due to it randomly powering up (in fact it wont stop doing it now)
