Using decrypter and mcc004 (verbatim 16x) I cant hit 16x, and at around 12-13x the buffers goes nuts and go down. It wont go past 13x when burning a 4.5GB dvd. I really need help on this. What can be causing the issue?
This happens with all 3 of my burners.

Since you're hitting 12-13x I'd say you're harddrive(s) are in DMA mode. But worth a check to make sure they're in DMA and not PIO.
Is your harddrive badly fragmented? Might try defragmenting it.
Can you get 16x write speeds with other media? Might be the media.
To be honest I'm happy getting 8x write speeds (I use 8x TY02 media). I can't image what it's like to get 16x. Good luck.

Well just before I went to reinstall my OS, I was picking around in BIOS and I changed the IDE "arrangement" to auto instead of "combined" or "enhanced" and it seems to make it better.
I dont have any more 16x discs left, but I do have some TY dvd+R 8x, which burn at 16x on 2 of my burners. Heres the text, what do you pros think:
I 22:58:18 Destination Device: [3:1:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG 2.18 (F (ATA)
I 22:58:18 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: YUDEN000-T02-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x)
I 22:58:18 Destination Media Sectors: 2,295,104
I 22:58:18 Write Mode: DVD
I 22:58:18 Write Type: SAO
I 22:58:18 Write Speed: 16x
I 22:58:18 Link Size: Auto
I 22:58:18 Test Mode: No
I 22:58:18 BURN-Proof: Enabled

Not 16x but they aren't rated at 16x, so thats close enough right? The 16x verbatim were only hitting 13x before.COPIED OVER 600 DVDS SO FAR

Settle down, buddy. Perhaps no-one knows the answer ?
Is the extra 90-120 seconds extra (at the ABSOLUTE most) that it takes you to burn at 13X that critical ??? The reality is that your drive only hits your max speed for about the last third of the disc, so it's probably even less time than that. I'd be more concerned about getting good quality burns than shaving 90 seconds of my burn times
Obviously you must have a bottleneck somewhere between your hard drive, IDE channels and your burner. I guess you'd look at DMA mode for both burner and hard drive, or possibly shutting down every non-essential program running on your PC.If in doubt, Google it.

Relax man.
Run a Burst Rate test using Nero CD-DVD Speed and post the results.

Ok I give up. You guys like to think your experts and say the same thing to people over and over. I never said I was unhappy because I cant get it to burn all the way through at 16x. I know that dvds dont start and end at 16x for burning. It hits 16x for moments ONLY> If you werent so concerned with the fact that you think you know everything here, and if 50% of your posts werent to point out what "other " people dont know and how "annoyed" you get with "noobs who just dont get it" than youd might learn something else.
Once again, If you CAN read go to the top and read the posts, youll see I never said any of that.
If my 16x drive CANNOT hit 16x, AT ALL THEN IT MIGHT BE DYING AND I WANT TO GET MY MONEY BACK BEFORE THE 7 DAYS I HAVE TO RETURN IT IS UP.

If you don't like it, take it back — it's as simple as that.

Either that or put your burner in someone else's computer and see if it works. Then you can identify if it's your burner or your PC.

Its tiresome to see people like you glace over threads and offer no helpful input, just your pointless opinion that doesnt even reflect the content of what was asked. Your history in particular is littered with that behaviour. Can you read?
the pointless threads you posted on the BENQ FORUM is just the same as here. the history that you have is if you don't like the replies to your questions then you go to other forum sites and post the same thing. lmfao return your drive if you think it's not up to your STANDARDS. we've all gave our opinions and if you don't like them that's fine, no freeking loss to me.
you sure you're not jimmyplexed or newtoburners at the cdfreaks.com forums??????

mattyboy,
You need to sort your attitude out. You are recieving free help here. You aren't paying for it. Don't complain if you don't get exactly what you wanted. If you want to do that, go away and phone the technical support line for the relevant manufacturer.
Thanks to all in this thread who have been patient!
