    If 4x DVD-R, it could be MXLRG02, TYG01 or RITEKG04. If 4x DVD+R, RICOHJPNR01 or RITEKR02. 8x should be MXLRG03 for DVD-R and MAXELL002 for DVD+R. I haven't had a lot of success with the 8x Maxell DVD-Rs in spite of them being made by Hitachi-Maxell in Japan.

    I posted this deal earlier today.

    I got a great cashier at Staples B&M who not only pricematched to the website, but gave me a 110% pricematch and let me buy 3-50 packs!!

    Total before tax $12.44 ea.

    Got MXLRG03 -R's which burn @ 16x speed in both my BenQ 1620 and NEC 3500 with 95-97 scores in Nero's CD\DVD disc quality scans.

    150 made in japan 8x dvds for under $40!!.

    Here's a scan burned @16x;

  8. Nice deal. She price matched againt their own website with the 110%. LOL She's not supposed to do that. You got lucky even though the 110% is only on the price difference not on the entire price.

    Somewhat unrelated, but I had a price mistake at Best Buy Sunday when I went to get the Verbatim 16x on sale ($11.99 for 25 packs). I picked up two spindles but only got charged for one. Is this an official pricing screw up week?

    Yes, but the package when I looked at it said 4x. Did they change it?

    What are those? Don't sound like Ty or Hitachi Maxell.

    Besides, supermediastore has TY media for around $25 per hundred.

    How does MXLRG03 not sound like Hitachi-Maxell? All Maxell DVD-R media codes are MXL RG0x.

    Supermedia's TY's are 4X or 8X "seconds". These are high grade 8X made in japan.

    The last 50-disc spindle of MXLRG03 I bought certainly wasn't high grade (most discs failed when trying to burn at their rated speed). Maxell appears to have two separate production lines for their media, and one certainly doesn't seem to be as good.

    I got these today, code was MXL RG03, problem is my LDW 811S will only burn them at 2X???
    This code is not listed in any of the firmwares for this drive.
    Anyone know how I can get these to burn at 4X with good results??
    It would be a shame if I cant.
