got 4 usb drive (is this what you call them?) 2 at the back and 2 at the front of my cpu. the 2 at the back is functioning, i.e., when you insert a flash drive it is automatically detected. but when i insert my flash drive in the usb drive at the front of my cpu it is not detected. what's wrong? where can i get a driver for my usb drive?

  2. I would take a guess that the front ports in the case are not connected to a USB header on the motherboard.

    They are called USB ports.

I agree with Craig Tucker, the most likely cause is that they are not connected to the motherboard. This assumes a newer pc & case, I have an older one that the front usb ports are actually connected to the rear ones via a proprietory connector (which is missing)
