  1. I own a Divx standalone player with USB support and it works fine on memory sticks
However today tried out with new external USB HDD formated as FAT32 and its not recognised
Is there a glaringly obvious solution to this or is this just not possible on standalone players?
    Any help/pointers appriciated

  3. Its a Maxtor 3200 500GB USB drive on a Tevion (sorry not at home so can't see model number will check this evening) from UK Aldi store
Just wondered what the standard would be for formating drive like this to function as a media libary for player
Is it the caddys firmware itself thats the problem?
I had an old 20GB maxtor drive on a usb to ide connection working on this machine earlier in year
But I'm finding it difficult to discover exactly what the standard/filesize limit etc is for these things
    Perhaps there isn't one...?
    Any help appriciated

  6. Last night got the seagate 3200 500GB drive to work
Used FAT32Format one partion and primary and plugged drive in first then into USB, switched on machine at first i got the wee hand signal that usually means no sisk but after a wait of about a minute it came up.
Files played reasonablely smoothly (much better than usb pen)
Thanks for pointer to the other thread
