  1. I used to Tmpgenc to rip and convert the vobs off of a dvd. Everything worked great, quality was great, the only problem I had was when someone is running or their is fast motion (action) I see these fine lines in the video. I'm sorry for the lame discription but that is the best way I can put it. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have a better program I can use to rip a dvd into a high quality mpeg or avi. I am trying to rip music videos off of a dvd so it doesn't take long, but I just want those damn lines to disappear.

    ANy help would be appreciated

    thanks

  2. You are probably seeing scan lines from interlaced video. You would need to de-interlace the video to get rid of this.

I believe you can edit the video using a free program like Virtualdub to do the de-interlacing (use the smart de-interlacer filter). The free MPEG decoder FlaskMPEG might include some de-interlacing capability, although I am not sure about this.

There is also a commercial tool, Cinematize, that does the extraction from your DVD, decoding of the audio and video, and de-interlacing of the video all in one operation.
