What genre of music do you tend to listen to the most?

I personally listen to punk music most of the time. I also like early 90s Alternitive music, such as Toadies and Diswalla.

  2. New Age. Yes, I'm a huge Yanni fan.

  3. Anything that sounds good.

It would mostly be punk though as that is what makes up most of my music collection. Additional genres would be Heavy Metal, Rock, Rock Metal and Accoustic (if that can be counted as a genre). I like all forms of music though.

Lately I've been a huge fan of The Who (as seen in my avatar).

I can't stand Accoustic music. I hate the sound of an Accoustic guitar for some reason.

  5. Nothing better than accoustic guitar or piano.

What genre would mellow out music come under (artists like Jack Johnson and Ben Harper)? Been a big fan of them lately as well.

Classic Rock. I'm a guitar player so I basically like any music that has good guitar in it too.

    IMHO, Metalica blows.

I've heard Ace of Bass songs that are better than Metalica
    Quote Quote
  12. Well Love Metal is different........System of a Down is sometimes pretty hard and fast. I used to like them but I don't follow them that much anymore.

Love Metal is somewhat hard but not really. It is smooth and alot of the time soft. There is really only one band that is considered Love Metal. I think I have told you this before. The band name is HIM.

They are actually really good and everyone I have shown them to loves them. If you want a few really good songs I would recommend:

    The Funeral of Hearts
    The Sacrament
    Right Here In My Arms
    Lose You Tonight
    Heartache Every Moment

They have even done a few covers of Chris Issac - Wicked Game and Billy Idol - Rebel Yell.

Just check them out. They are actually really good. And the weird thing is, their songs are love songs.

And if you think by looking at the titles that they gothic....they arent.

  13. Oh and Metallica used to be my favorite band......until I found out about HIM. And also because their last album sucked donkey.

But I do still like them.

I've heard of them and saw the lead singer in an episode of Viva La Bam. I've been wanting to check them out. And now that I know they did those covers I'll definitly check them out.

  15. Ya the lead singer is Ville Valo......hehehe hence my avatar text is Valo. They also did a cover of Blue Oster Cults - Don't Fear The Reaper and a live version of Backstreet Boys - Larger Than Life.......hahahah. They actually made that song sound good unlike the original.

Glad to hear you want to check them out. I have all of their albums and some live stuff.........hell I even went and bought their DVD that is PAL only.....had to convert the whole damn thing.....hehe.

  20. Spending almost 20 years as a radio announcer in the late 70's to mid 90's and having to actually listen to and learn a lot about the music I was playing I would say that I still have a soft spot in my heart for the mainstream Adult Contemporary artists and music of that era...everything from Elton John, Billy Joel & James Taylor through REM, Hootie and yes even Del Amitri. I do, however, find myself listening more and more to Jazz (smooth and Fusion) as I am currently doing on air "shift" work at a Jazz station in NY and need to do research occasionally. My current favorites include David Benoit, Brian Culbertson and Oleta Adams

about the only genres I don't care for are Opera, New Age (rhymes with "sewage") and newer Country. most other styles, I can at least name one band I like...

mostly lately I've been listening to Noise, Industrial and Dark Ambient... stuff like Bastard Noise, Unicorn, Namanax, Spastic Colon, Bizarre Uproar, Throbbing Gristle, and the netradio stream from Somnambulant Corpse.

punk all the way for me.

hey tgpo, what are some of your favorite punk bands?
    Quote Quote
  25. Although, i also like anything that "sounds good" - it has been pointed out (by friends) that i'm a freak for dream and shoegazer. You know, bands like Lush, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine ...to name a few. i also groove on experimental stuff of late - like Godspeed, Mogwai, Sigur Ros... i guess i just get bored easily.

Kevin Sheilds (MBV) put it this way. "I try to make music that instead of leaping out at you like most pop music - is very layered and you sort of fall into it." That's not verbatim - but it really describes why i like what i like.

Dude. You've never heard of Green Day? Come on. In the early 90s everyone had the 3rd Green Day album, Dookie. They use to give them out in Grocery Stores with free samples of welsh's grape juice. Everyone has heard of Green Day.
