Classic rock and heavy rock. Metallica is one.

Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are favourites and the Beatles as the best.

  9. Well isn't this just great. I just found out that HIM will be touring the US in April. SON OF A..........

Now don't get me wrong, it will be cool to see my favorite band in concert. But what really sucks is that MTV is going to get ahold of them and then over play them like they always do and the next thing you know its everyones favorite band all of a sudden.

Then you get all the wannabes talking about how they liked them forever and all this garbage.

    Damn I hate MTV

Dude, what is it with all the 666 stuff with Him?
    Quote Quote
  11. ehhehehe.......yes the 666. You might think its gothic but its not. Most of their material deals with love. Most are love songs. And as much as they talk about 666, they talk about the heavens and god as well.

When they talk about love, they talk about the good parts about it and the bad parts......hence heaven and hell.

A good example of this is the song For You: Some lyrics go:

I'm for you - and I'm dying for your love
I'm for you - and my heaven is wherever you are
I'm for you - and I'm dying for your love
I'm for you - and my heaven is wherever you are

I guess the best way I can sum it up is the love they talk about is so strong that it compares with the heavens and the hells.........I don't really know if this makes sense. I am not sure if I did a very good job of translating it. When you listen to most of their songs it pretty much makes sense.

Like I said, it may seem gothic but its not really. They are actually pretty religious. And unlike a lot of bands, they don't do drugs and hardly ever drink. They do smoke however. They go into depth about this on their DVD. Ville talks about how when they perform and write music they want to have a clear head and that the drugs and alcohol just alter their state of mind. They want the music to come from their hearts and not a drug.

Sorry if I confused you even more....hehehe.

They pulled someone off stage and had him sing, then wished they hadn't

I saw them at the V98 (?) festival in Leeds where they pulled some guy with green hair out of the audience and had him play guitar with 'em. It wasn't your punk alter ego was it Will ?

Yeah, that was it - 98, not 97.
James Brown, Catatonia, Iggy Pop (superb!), Seahorses (man, I wish I'd seen them!! ), Robbie Williams, Verve etc.
    I camped, did you?
And it wasn't Roundhay, it was Temple Newsam, wasn't it?

Yeah we camped - right next to a bunch of geordies on magic mushrooms

Yup its was temple newsam or something. I vaguely remember Iggy Pop almost causing a riot after encouraging the audience up on stage.

Iggy Pop was incredible, from a showman point of view.
I think the highlight for me was when he spit on teh crowd, classic!!!
Also, and I hate to admit it but (and I never liked the guy); Robbie Williams was electric.
It was before he 'hit it big' (he was on Sat afternoon, remember?) but man, what a show!!!
    Superb!
Had a lot of respect for him ever since.
(coming out and then singing 'LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS' helped me to like him to be honest

I have vague recollections of those days at best Can't remember Blobbie being there - I'd probably avoid that anyway. I do remember Greenday burning the drum kit at the end of their set.

Ahhhh . . . the good old days

I like a little of everything, though. My mp3 collection at it's glory was just ridiculous.

  24. For heavy metal, i tend to prefer motörhead. I'm impressed that they still sound good on their latest.
For synthesizer music i'm a big big fan of jarre and vangelis.
I started out in traditional rock with dIRE sTRAITS.
As for EBM and harder music like that, i like Front and the newer acts like Apoptygma and VNV.
And when it comes to trance, i like some psychedelic like Sub6 and Infected Mushroom, but also some "progessive" (?) like Mauro Picotto. Much to my friends disgust, i tend to like so-called commercial dance music.
Among the reggae artists, i tend to prefer roots reggae like marley, tosh, alpha blondie.

But one of my favourite groups must be mano negra.

I'm not keen on C&W, Classic but I'm a fan of like most music genres and generations

Over the years I'd say it's mostly Dance I've listened to. I guess it's got something to with me loving to go nightclubbing 8)

  29. That song, Jerk It Out by The Caesars is catchy - reminds me a lot of the stuff I used to get into in the early '80s.

They play it on those ipod commercials all the time.

I'm mostly into older stuff though but have a wide range of interests musically.
