I have a few movies I ripped using my PVR-250 and I want to get them onto a DVD. I was able to get one to burn because it was small enough to fit on the DVD but I can't get anymore movies to burn because they are too big.
I do have to edit the movies slightly, just trimming the beginning and the end. I really liked Movie Factory for that as it was pretty easy.
Can someone suggest a program that I can do some simple editing with that will burn a DVD disc with some compression. Thanks for the help.

You could author it to your hd(output as a video_ts folder) and then shrink/transcode it with dvd shrink. But if it is several GigaBytes too big for a dvdr it is better to reencode it. Ulead DVD Moviefactory should be able to reencode if it wont fit.

The poroblem is that with the version of Movie Factory that came with my PVR-250 I can't seem to find a way to encode the video. The peice that I have to burn to DVD is only about 1 gig to big.
I would love it if I could figure out how to make movie factory reencode. I like the program so far and would like to be able to just use one program for my video making.
THanks for any help anyone can give me.

Are your captured videos compliant for the type of disc you are creating? If so, then make sure you DO NOT check the box that says "DO not encode compliant mpeg files"
Also, what bitrate did you capture at, and what bitrate are you using in your MovieFactory template? If the bitrate in the MovieFactory template is HIGHER than the bitrate of your source videos, it will not encode the video.
What audio type are you using -- you could gain some space by switching to a compressed audio format (mpeg or Dolby Digital if your version of the software has DD). MPEG audio is not an NTSC Stnadard, so some NTSC DVD Players will not play mpeg audio...George -
George W - I captured the videos from my PVR satellite reciever with a Hauppauge PVR-250. I have it set to record on DVD Long Play which is a variable bit rate from 4800 to a peak of 6000. THe audio is set to 224.
I don't know what the output of Movie Factory is but it will not reencode or transcode to fit on a disc. I did notice today though that the version of Movie Factory I have is 3.0 SE. It was the bundled with my PVR-250. I am wondering if the SE version has the capability to shrink the output file to fit on a DVD.
I don't know what you mean by template. I am using this software because it came with the PVR-250 and it is simple for what I need to to. (edit out a bit of viedo here and there)
Any help or recommendations of other software are very much appreciated.

Use a better authoring app. And calculate what bitrate to use before you start capturing. You can create your own presets with your custom bitrate setting. With TDA, you can author up to 8-9 GB DVD structure to HDD, then shrink it down to DVD5 with DVDShrink if you didn't manage to get the bitrate right.

BTW, the title of the topic is not correct - I would jump earlier in this, but was scared for the "moviemaker"
