  1. Another question for the knowledgeable among you.
All the discs i use for home made discs are single layer, but when i open some of my home made discs in a Windows Explorer window, why do they show up as being over 8 GB ?
Most of them i can copy by dragging the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder to the hard drive, then burning it to disc with TMPGenc DVD Author, but as some show up as over 8 GB, it wont allow it to burn becasue it is too big.

I notice that most of the files are in the folder twice, just with slightly different name.I tried removing the duplicates from the list, but then i get a message telling me it is an invalid structure or something.
For example, say i had i disc with 4 episodes of a show, each one being about 1GB,well it would show twice as many video files than there should be.

    Any ideas?
    thanks

That's really strange...Let me know what was causing this when you find out...?

I would also advise what MackemX suggested...DVD Decrypter, or even run it through DVD Shrink, and see if it will back the DVD up with all settings set to "No Compression" as a 4.7 GB .iso?

  4. I don't know if this really applies to your situation but I used a set-top recorder to record 1 hr of TV (in 2 hr. mode) and when I loaded it into Shrink it showed up as having 2 titles, each identical, causing the size to appear double. I just previewed each title to verify that they were the same, selected 1 in reauthor, and ripped to HD.
No idea why this happened but the new files are always the correct size & can then be loaded into TDA.

Lots of DVD+VR recorders have double entries.
