    Channles: 5 (stereo)
    Compression: Unknown
    Layout: 29 Chunks

Well what exactly do you mean with ((very weak))
if you mean the volume then Sony Sound Forge is the best way to increase the volume as I've experienced...
but if you mean the quality itself ...I don't think there's a way to improve it more than a little bit...because it's something related with the source of the audio and not with your movie's audio itself....
but the info's you've written are quite good (((((448 Kbps)))))
but are you sure that it's ((((5 channels stereo)))) may be there's something wrong...

  3. The info I wrote above I have taken them from virtualdub, and they are absolutely correct. Thats why I dont understand with these settings the sound is too weak. I am not sure whether the quality of the sound is good as i can barely hear it from the speakers of my laptop.
I give it a try using Sound Forge to see if I can get a better quality out of it.

  4. You could demux the audio from the file. Improve it using Audacity or Goldwave and remux again. Only thing is you may loose the 5-channels audio.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.

I did exactly as sanjayk said with a tv cap but mine was 2 channel stereo. I had accidently set the volume too low and used goldwave to extract it from the avi. I boosted it 200% twice and then applied the denoise filter in goldwave to get rid of hiss that was introduced during the boost. This part was a bit trial and error but the final result was excellent.
I used vdubmod to remux the audio. I deleted the extra audio channel in vdubmod after the fact time because the file played fine in media player classic with an extra audio channel but ms media player choked on it. You could probably do this at the same time as the remux and audio compress.

  6. Sometimes just normalizing audio is enough. But Soundforge is very cool. Has anyone used 8 yet? Does it open AC3 files now?
