I have a real media video file which is made for LAN audience. I want to decrease its bit rate so it can be better uploaded & viewed on web.
I have tried to use Real(Helix) Producer but it doesn't do the desired job.
It's "Real media Editor" allows to edit portions of file but doesn't allow to change the audience.
In a nutshell, I want o convert a high bit-rate Real Media file to low bit-rate Real Media file.

canopus procoder - not sure if express does it or you'd need to go for the regular version...express is cheap, but there's no demo avail...regualr version I thought had a downloadable demo...also, it's not just the bitrate, but transport (/streaming) is different than just playing a file from a download / hard drive (even if the codec is the same)...is someone is accessing your site from broadband, and your bitrate is not super high, the practical difference may be small..best way to see is to re-encode and then post your file and access it a few different ways and see how it does..

Thanks for the reply.
I installed Canopus ProCoder 2 and tried .. but unfortunately this software also does not do the required job. It provides us the facility to have a real media output file ... but my major problem is that I have a Real Media video file as a source .. and it doesn't support it being a source file.
When I checked Canopus ProCoder 2 help file .. I found the following statement:
The ProCoder Wizard can load a variety of different video file formats for conversion.
If you cannot see the file you want to load but you know it exists, the file may not be in a support source type.
Some file types such as RealMedia files cannot be loaded due to licensing restrictions. -
well, sh_t..sorry about that
... you know I was going to confirm RM as an input before posting & should have checked explicitly .. I've encoded to RM and it's done a great job, and generally is a really good transcoding tool...I guess MS is good about not letting content get converted out of RM...(can you spell monopoly)
well, did you look at Boilsoft RM Converter ? There are no comments there, but if this would let you convert from RM to AVI, you're wide open on then converting that back to another RM stream (procoder would do or there's a free RM encoder, I'm sure on MS site)...
anyway, sorry for the diversion, and hopefully the above helps..I thought there was also one other tool, but I don't see it ... if you search this site you may find it .. (but if the above does work, it might be quicker than searching around, just a question of whether the quality is good and hopefully it doesn't do anything weird when you install).....PC/PCE I thought was good b/c it would be one step ... maybe the above will help or someone else will throw in a tool name if they have one..."As you ramble on through life, brother, whatever be your goal - keep your eye upon the doughnut and not upon the hole." -
well .. this solution still doesn't help me much. first its too much time consuming .. no. next ... BoilSoft RM Converter crashes in between processing and losts everything.
I'm still seeing if anyone can answer me how to reduce the bit-rate of a RealMedia Video file. -
what OS are you running & what SP? I'll see if I can get boilsoft to run for me (XP SP1)
