I am redoing some dvd's & I am recompiling to my personal preference. I am using DVD shrink & using the reauthor mode & ripping all the titles I want into a compilation. Then I try to load the files into TMPGEnc DVD Author & it loads fine but none have audio. How can I fix this??? They all play audio fine when I burn the reauthored no menu dvd's to a disc or play them from my hard drive. Some one please help, thanks.

one or the other the AC-3 plugin should fix it, or demux the vob.

without the AC-3 plugin, TDA won't output sound unless your audio is .wav and you add it when you add the video file.

I have the plug in & it never outputs sounds dring a preview. But this is saying that the VOB's contain no audio. I have tried the demuxing & the video is longer than the audio once it is done. Is there another DVD authoring program that is as simple & easy to use as TDA but with out all the stinking warnings & precautions? This thing wont eve allow one to mix different video or audio types.

Up until the latest version of TMPGEnc DVD Author when you reauthored your own dvds from a dvd recorder (as I did) the sound would disappear (at least it did on my machine) , which I only realised after authoring 3 dvds and erasing the originals . I.E. make sure you`re running the updated version 1.6 as it added better dvd-vr support .

No, DVD Decrypter cannot read from hard drive,
you need creative ISO image and load to virtual drive.
Or if VIDEO_TS not big for DVD-R, just burn it with DVD Writing Tool
    from TMPGEnc DVD Author.

or use Rejig its can read from hard drive.

I think there is some confusion going on here , from your posts when you preview the video in TMPGenc DVD Author there is no sound , as I said , this was a problem up until v1.6 (for some methods) . But if your sound is there on the finished dvd , why is that a problem ?
The problem you mention with not knowing which VOB is which is a problem Ive encountered to , I got around it by manually remaking the dvd with DVD Shrink by Reauthoring and just dragging the bits I wanted across into the new compilation .

    What he is saying is:
When the burns the folders directly from DVDShrink(with no menu)....there is audio.
When he loads the DVDShrink material into TDA (To create a menu)....TDA tells him that there is no audio.
He is NOT talking about audio in the previewing in TDA.

It happens to me quite often. Demuxing usually takes care of the problem but not always.

As I was saying TMPGEnc DVD Author did the same to me , it told me there was no Audio in the file - BUT the sound was there , if I tried demuxing it , the audio was definitely there , it was just Tmpgenc DVD Author couldnt see it , I got around it by demuxing and then loading it into the program seperately BUT when I upgraded TMPGenc DVD Author to v1.6 it cured it 100% . It went wobbly when I had messed about with the disc in any way .

He is talking about the preview sound as well , it never worked for me either UNTIL I upgraded .

I have the plug in & it never outputs sounds dring a preview.
Understand on the other points .

The bringing of DVD Decrypter into the equation complicated the discussion , its not immediately obvious how to demux with it , Baldricks answer was enough (its how I did it) another method just complicated things , the confusion was because the topic was spreading to more and more things , making virtual files etc .

Ive got around TMPGencs warnings by er.. ignoring them and tricking it into believing the files were something else by hacking them , as long as I put them in their seperate menu , they were fine (obviously I rehacked the vob when the dvd was authored to hd) .

i wasnt specifically talking about the preview sound, I am referring to the actual vob file having an audio file association with it as most VOB's & video files do.

Have you tried using TDA to rip the files as an MPG as opposed to VOB files? I'm not sure if this would make a difference, but it's worth a try.

  16. In the main window. Click on source setup. When the source setup window appears click on the "add DVD video" button, then navigate to your VIDEO_TS folder and select it. Then just rip the files to your hard drive. They will transfer as an MPG file.

I am using the Add DVD Video with files that are already on my hard drive & I have never got TDA to convert these files to MPEG?? It just creates the files straight from the VOB files. If the audio is muxed with the VOB file 9 times out of 10 it will not display an Audio Input File name. Tell me again how you are getting TDA to rip??

  18. I used the guide that's posted on this site; https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833. It shows how to convert VOB files back to MPG for reauthoring. Just scroll down to the section that uses TDA.
