  1. Say I have a file (.mpg or a .m2v or whatever - NOT a VOB, or VIDEO_TS folder). How can I easily find out if it is PAL or NTSC? I assumed MPEG2WORKS's Tools pane's MPEG Info window would show such but it does not.

I know I can load some into Toast and select to make a PAL or NTSC SCVD and if any of the files are not the selected format Toast will balk. I can then add and remove until all files are the same and Toast will automatically choose one or the other. Kind of a PITA to do if there is some app out there that has a feature that shows you PAL or NTSC.

    Thanks,
    mf

Just open it in Quicktime and look at the fps. 25 = PAL, 23.976 or 29.97 = NTSC

This is assuming the resolutions are standard.

  3. Thanks for the very quick reply. In QT how do I find the fps? It *is* shown in MPEG2WORKS info on the Tools pane. I just didn't know what I was looking at. Shoulda said up front that I knew next to nothing!

So, I now know how to easily do what I want with what I had first tried. But, out of curiosity, how do I see fps in QuickTime? I assumed it was Movie>Get Movie Properties, but I don't see anything related to fps. Size, yes, but not fps. Just curious now.

    Again, thank you,
    mf

If you change the Movie pull down menu to MPEG Muxed Track, and change the second pull down to Frame Rate, then it will show you the fps.

  5. D'oh!
And, D'oh again. Thank you. Talk about half-assed effort. I swear I'm not really that stupid.

    Take care,
