  1. I'm just useless today, cant seem to make any editing work. My avi file is too big for my cd, so I tried using one of the guides on how to cut avi's with virtualdub, I did it yesterday and it worked fine. As for today, any file I cut and do 'save as' comes out with no audio at all. What could the problem be. Thanks to anyone that helps me.

  2. Check in the Audio menu, and ensure it has "Source audio" selected and not "No audio".

  3. I have virtualdub 1.3, under the audio menu I have..'no audio', 'avi audio', and ' wav audio'. It's always set at avi.

    Start with the obvious ...

Did you turn your speakers on today ?
When you play the file on your PC, does it have sound ?
Load the AVI, then go to Audio > Full Processing then go to File > Save WAV. Do you get sound from the WAV File ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Yep, speakers are on. I tried the file before and after and it had sound before and no sound after. I got the wav from the avi and that plays fine.

OK, how about opening virtualdub, loading your AVI, then going to Audio > WAV Audio and then specifying this WAV you created ?

(I'd suggest setting a range and just encode a minute or so of the footage to test it)
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. If I load the avi after I got it with the original wav, I'll end up with an audio file that wont fit the size. My original audio is about 150 megs of a 700 meg file. After I cut .5% of the file, the Wav I got from the cut avi is only 30megs? I think I'm losing the audio somewhere in the cutting and or saving of the new cut avi.

  8. alright, I got it figured out. I got virtualdub 1.5 (i was using 1.3) and everything seems to have fixed itself. And one of the files I had a lot of problems with in 1.3 started with an error message for the audio in 1.5. Saying that it was VBR audio and I needed to get the wav out of the video and recompress it to a constant bit rate. I did that and I had no problems cutting it after. Thanks for all the help.
