Just a heads up (I don't know if this has been posted), anyone interested in making a legal backup of the Forgotten which hits the shelves tommorrow will have to use one of the methods used to copy Resident Evil 2, or Little Black Book. It seems like the easiest way has been with DVD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink.

Having LOTS of problem even using DVD Decrypter.
At around 79% it says I/O error - Cyclic Redundancy Error while trying to De-CSS
Always at the same spot."Half empty or half full, it's still only half a glass" - What Dave Says

The latest version of DVDDecrypter work well but I have never seen such a listing if exclamation marks. At one point I read the fine print and Decryper's message said
"Arrrrgh...too many blank headers missing...." It also slowed down to a 1.3X read for a couple of files. When it was done Shrink had no trouble. An old version of Clone DVD failed. Too bad the movie isn't worth all the trouble.Still a few bugs in the system...

The end result SHOULD work. I'll give you the update within 15 minutes."Half empty or half full, it's still only half a glass" - What Dave Says

IT WORKS!!!!!
the stupid thing is that stuck scene is also being experienced by me when I try to play the original disc on my DVD players
- Pioneer DV-05
- Denon 910
- Yamaha 5650 (old firmware)
- Yamaha 5650 (new firmware)
The only way for me to watch this disc flawlessly is by watching the back-up"Half empty or half full, it's still only half a glass" - What Dave Says

Thanks, but I already used that and it seems to work just for the output file. When the original file doesn't allow me, I still can't do the editing.
Funny thing is the 'original' file was processed with Shrink with that option checked. After re-doing (editing) the file with Shrink once again (to remove the blank portion of the movie), all the chapters are accessible.
I'm confused. I hope it's only this title that gives me the runaround.
Spent $26 Canadian (plus taxes) and I have to make a copy in order to watch the feature... what a concept."Half empty or half full, it's still only half a glass" - What Dave Says

There must be something wrong with the rip. It shouldn't be that small and there can't be 3 movie files. The movie file -- director's cut -- is about 3.4Gig and the theatrical cut is about 3.2Gig
What I did was I rip the entire disc using Decrypter into one folder, than open that folder using Shrink 3.2. Then the resulting file was re-back-upped by editing the first several minutes of the blank movie data removed (using Shrink 3.2 again)."Half empty or half full, it's still only half a glass" - What Dave Says

i can now get to this stage, so, in re-author mode, clip the first blank bit, and the result file wants to be 20gb, i noticed that when i pull the sliding bar, the credits crop up in the wrong place, and theres spots of blank video throughout the movie, so, have you actually watch your finalized and burnt movie ????

Just burned an excellent copy by:
Using Shrink (latest version) and AnyDVD 4551, Optorite DD1205 (f/w 120e) as the "reader" and BenQ DW1620 (f/w B7P9) as the "writer"
ReAuthered in Shrink; used the "start/end frames" tool to start the movie at the first scene of the movie and then set the end at the first frame with the credits.
Burned with Nero (ver 6606) from inside Shrink and 4X speed on BeAll (silver printerable) 4X media.
Played it back on my standalone Sony player and it looks great, 100% satisfied I am.
Sorry for the long post, but I hope this might help some folks.kip

Wow you people are doing a lot of work. You can just rip it with AnyDVD or DVD Decrypter. I fail to see what the problem is here, other than user error.
