  1. Hi,

I have some Hi8 tapes recorded on a PAL Sony Camcorder and would like to convert them to DVD so they can be played back on regular NTSC DVD players and Televisions.

What is the best and easiest way of doing this without spending a lot of money.

    Thanks for your help,

    Sheri

  2. I would hook up the cam to a good capture card, and save them to the hard drive, author and burn.
    Hauppauge PVR-250/350/500 cards or similar.

Well you need to play it back first and capture it in the PAL video format. So you will need a PAL cam to play it back as a NTSC cam will not play back a PAL video.

You of course need a computer with a capture card etc.

Once you have it captured there is a new, fairly simple method, of converting it to NTSC DVD ... see the link below:

I'm not sure what you all have in terms of hardware capture device and software so this is just a basic explaination unless you want to provide more details should you need more help.

  6. What do they say? I've never seen that program, although it's on one of those "20 minutes of ads per 30 minutes of viewing time" yankee stations...
