Howdy all![]()
I have 1 big .wav file [ 824 megs] ((ALBUM) OMD - The Very Best Of.wav)
I have an empty CD capacity 700 Megs.
I can sacrifice some songs from this 824 megs file, so that it cuts down to 700 approx. and then I can burn it on this 700 megs medium.
Question is:- how does one strip a .wav file , to make it thinner ?![]()
Thx. for any help.

why not convert it to mp3 then you would not need to cut anything out?

Or if you really do need to keep it as a 44.1000Hz PCM file for 'standard ' cd burning, just load it into an audio editor, and cut away!
This one's free:

Thanks to Solarjetman ,pippas and MOVIEGEEK.
Moving sequentially:-
My dedicated audio player only plays .wav formats, so mp3 was not preferred.
next I tried " http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ "...Great. I did not understand how it works, it's the 1st time I 'm seeing such a software, but I was able to cut the 824 megs to 550 megs like a tailor.
The cutting was not at all elegant, but I need time to go through the help to be more elegant[ cutting trackwise rather than an agricultural cut :P ]...but for the time the issue's solved
I have yet to try the one from MOVIEGEEK....
but thanks Guyz..... -
how long is the wav in minutes
i thought if its under 80mins then it should fit on a 80min CD
isnt audio CD's different to video CD, its time not file size ? -
Yes, it's probably not necessary to strip it. 700 megs in "data" mode equals about 800 megs in "audio" mode, because less space is used for error-correcting code. 2048-byte data sectors become 2352-byte audio sectors.
