    Are there alternative menu templates available ?, the standard ones are a bit poor ?

    Not that I know of, but the ones that are there are customisable by clicking the edit menu button.

    You can move and resize thumbnails and buttons, you can use your own background images... Just remember, you can't add thumbnails, but you can disable them.
