  1. I'm transferring some music videos that i recorded on my standalone to dvdr and i want to use Tmpgenc DVD author to create a menu etc.
I want to insert chapter points inbetween some of the songs but when i go to the edit feature i can't hear the sound (AC-3) being played and so obviously its difficult to know exactly where to put the chapter points.
    Any help please

  2. Do you have the AC3 Plugin?I think you need that to encode and preview the AC3.

ac3 playing/decoding in the editing is not supported.

    "Impossibility...
    - AC-3 re-encoding (ex: AC-3 to linear PCM)
    - AC-3 play during video edition (playing means decoding)
    - Re-edit multi-language DVD-Video
(Use MP2 or linear PCM to ensure re-edition). "

Maybe I'm mis-reading your response but I have TMPGEnc DVDAuthor w/ac3 plug-in and I'm able to hear ac3 audio during edit of imported DVDs or TIVO TV capture (written to DVD+RW which has ac3 sound).

  6. i've just been reading the help pages and it says "Thanks to this plug-in, it is now possible to decode and encode(2ch) in AC-3 sound. And even if the audio is in AC-3, you can have the sound for the preview, the cut/chapter editing, and also when setting the background image."

Sorry to disagree with you Baldrick, but I also have TDA with ac-3 plug-in and yes you can listen while editing, but it is very resource intense (wouldn't work on my old p3 850 laptop, mutes after a few seconds). Weller I would recommend that you uninstall both TDA and plug-in and re-install, I believe you have to install TDA first, then the plug-in. This was the advice I got from pegasys tech support when I lost the plug-in support after an upgrade of TDA. Hope this helps.
