first off, mods, you can erase this post... sorry about that
==========================Code:https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=260909&highlight=dvdvcd
there use to be a guide at videohelp.com which showed some steps like taking your VCD .mpg demultiplexing it, converting the audio to 48000 instead of 44.100, then using DVDPatcher to change some kinda headerz on that .mpg file to fool your burning software into thinking it's a DVD MPEG2 file... well, that guide has disappeared... but from what i've read, it's the audio that has to be adjusted...
so...
...i changed the default VCD NTSC template in TMPGENC to 48000 224 audio and encoded (everything else stayed as default VCD template)... but do i still need to use the DVDpatcher program? I hope to incorporate this VCD file into a project where Ulead DVD Moviefactory 2 will place 2 DVD MPEG2 files on a DVDRW, and then with the extra space, was gonna put a VCD 48000audio .mpg on as well... will this work? or will ulead try to reencode the file to proper DVD MPEG2?

A little different approach...
You should try using TMPGEnc DVD Author. It accepts regular vcd's (44.1) and will use them WITHOUT re-encoding. It's very nice. When you add a vcd, and see only 1-2% of the dvd capacity used, you'll be happy. -
so do i still encode with TMPGENC Plus to regular 44.100 VCD, then stick that in TDA?

No,TMPGEnc DVD Author change the audio for you. It changes to 48
for dvd. -
You should also know that just patching the header doesn't always make a compliant DVD file. It may not work on a lot of players. Using TMPGEnc DVD Author will be a much better method.

I'm not sure about MovieFactory 2.x, but in MovieFactory 3.x, if you have a compliant mpeg file for DVD, it will let you author the DVD using your source video "asis" (without re-encoding it). You just need to check the "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" option. I remember seeing that checkbox in MF2 (I think).
If you do decide to stick with a VCD resolution, you can use a video bitrate up to 1856kbps (for a slightly better picture). Of course, this only helps if you have higher quality source videos. It won't help to increase the bitrate if your source videos are already at Standard VCD bitrates.George
