hi i left gknot. i think i could get better result manually..

    well iam using:

    dvd decrypter + dvd2avi
    then:

    i make an avs file:

    mpeg2source("movie.d2v")
    crop("y1,y2,-x1,-x2)
    lanczosresize(new,resolution)

i tried lanczosresize and lanczos4resize its the same result i think.
iam making 2CDs rips pass1 config is:

    Global TAB:
Motion Search: 6 - Ultra High
    Quantization type: MPEG
    FourCC used: XVID
    Max I-Frame interval: 300
    Min I-Frame interval: 1

    enable lumi masking: NO
    enable interlacing: NO

    Quantization TAB:
    Min i-frame:1
    Max i-frame:31
    Min p-frame:1
    Max p-frame:31
    Min b-frame:
    Max b-frame:

(all setting is gray, i cant change them)

    Two Pass TAB:
    i-frame boost: 10%
    discard first pass: yes
    dummy 2nd pass: no (grey)
    curve compression: (all grey)
    high:0
    low:0
    bitrate playback:240
    payback with bias
    fist pass stats: its okey

    Alt.Curve TAB: all grey
    Curve agression: medium
    high distance:300
    low distance:300
    automatic min relativle quality: enabled
    strenght: 50
    min quality: 50
    automatic bonus bias: enabled

    these arent grey:
    max bitrate: 10000
    max overflow improvement: 5
    max overflow degradation: 5

    Debug TAB:
    automaticly detect optimizations
    CBR options: (all grey)
    reaction delay factor: 16
    averaging period: 100
    smoother: 100

    done.

2nd pass setting are the same, i use Xvid 2nd pass Int. and i just set the file size, no change in advance settings..

    now you know my settings
the question is how can i make sharper rips? so sharper lines in the image
lanczosresize and lanczos4resize its the same its cool but i've seen rips from some rls groups with much more better quality.

someone told me that i should use MPEG Custom, but i wont do that because my DVDplayer (Yamada 6700) wont play that 100%

please suggest me some other things. some filters or dunno
    iam using avisynth+vdub

    thanks in advance:
    blas

  2. Alot of the settings were greyed out because those are the 2nd pass tuning options. Try and lower your quantizers to 1,6,1,6 on the second pass. The first pass uses 2 across the board to analyze. Use perfectXviD to read your stats file for proper Curve agression distances. Make sure the movie size is calculated properly. There are a crap ton of guides here and on other sites. You need to experiment with other guides and come up with your own conclusion. Oh ya, experiment with a small clip like 5-10 minutes worth, it will be alot more efficient.

If you have an avi that you think looks nice you can check out what quant matrix was used with MPEG4Modifier.

i opened the 1st pass video.stats there. what, or how can i change anything there? i mean whats that interval etc. i have absolutly no idea howto make proper curve agression.

    thanks in advance.

    GMC: No
    Interlaced: No
    Aspect ratio: Square pixels
    Quant type: H.263

well i used H.263 for a 1 cd rip and it was unwatchable
    very crappy image.
