I have tried to make a DVD and as the DVD intro I extracted the David Brent Dance from the Office DVD.

I cut it so it went for about 20 seconds. I got the VOB and converted it with DIKO. It plays fine on its own but when inserting it into my production (ROXIO Easy Media Creator 7, latest update) on the preview it is all choppy and doesnt play smoothly. All the other clips on the main DVD work which are all Music Video Clips I downloaded. But the extract I made at the start is all jumpy.

I encoded it anyway incase it was just the playback on the computer but when playing the disc in a player it stalls and stops through the intro and on one player it freezes and wont even play that clip and then eventually just starts the musci videos which play through perfectly.

Could someone explain to me why the video I converted would not just play as it does when I play the file through WMP or another player on the computer?? And why would it encode a 'choppy' video??

    Hi Rudyard,

I don't know why it's choppy, but I do know a soultion - you don't need to re-encode the VOB when creating the DVD.

Some of the DVD authoring tools will accept VOBs as an input and allow you to select the clip you want. You can then add other VOBs or MPEG2s and then author.

TMPGEnc DVD Author does this, as does DVDLab (and pro version). There mayu be others.

    Hope that helps. Good luck...

    Hi Rudyard,

No problem. Start with TDA, it's easier to pick up than DVDLab, but less flexible when you want to start getting into more serious stuff.

"fellow Aussie"... Melbourne's great, the F1 GP circus was fun, but you need to check out my avatar and my signature... I'm an import
