  1. I have an ATI AIW 128 Pro and whatever app I try to play my captures and mpgs, avis etc in, they miss out a frame per 1 - 2 seconds. The effect, a jerky movie. It's REALLY bugging me. It happens in Win2000 and WinXP but not in Win98. So i'm guessing it's an NT thing concerning DirectX or something. My question is, has anyone here had (or even heard) of this problem and/or know how the hell to cure it! I've tried everything I can think of and I'm now getting really annoyed LOL

  2. I had trouble getting my ATI pro 128 to run under 2000. Bad or no video. in talking to Mirco soft they said it is only approved to run un Win 98 or Windows ME. You may need to change hard drive. You need one that runs at 7200 RPM. I also bumped system memory up to 512. Have no problems with stutter. Was hopeing it might run under XP so I could get rid of the file length problems.

    Hope this help

  3. try drivers 5.13.1.192 (i think, at least something close to that)
install the DX 8 and DX8 vidcap updates
install MMC 7.1 and the DVD 4.1 update (fixes most capture problems)

my AIW 128 Pro works better under 2000 than ME. it occasionally drops the first frame, but often goes hours without losing one. also check your sound card drivers. if it doesn't keep up, you can drop frames that way too.

(i know for a fact that microsoft itself has computers in their office running win2k/xp and aiw 128 pro's)

'needing' a 7200 rpm hdd is a myth. all you need is a high sustained write rate. the big advantage of 7200 rpm is really when searching or doing read/writes.

go into control panel and change video and audio acceleration to full. they're one notch down by default on most installs
