  2. To make an SVCD w/ selectable subtitles you need I-author (this program is next to impossible to find). Even if you find it most DVD players don't support selectable subtitles on SVCDs

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcdsubs.htm has the info

    However, making multiple audio tracks is fairly easy.
    1) Rip DVD

    2) Use DVD2AVI to generate D2V (video) and wave files (one for each language you want). Remember that the 2nd audio track takes up bitrate, so I suggest that you encode both at 128kbit/s instead of the standard 224kbit/s.
    Take a look under the "Tools" section to the left for the vcdhelp.com bitrate calculator, used advance mode and determine your bitrates.

    3) Run TMPGenc. Load the SVCD template. Then load the unlock template (should be in ../templates/extra). Use the audio1.wav as input to generate AUDIO ONLY audio1.mp2 then make audio2.mp2 (if necessary click settings and lower bitrate)
    Load the D2V video source, and encode VIDEO ONLY to M2V file. (if necessary click settings and lower bitrate, make sure resolution and aspect ratio are correct [unlock can muck this up])

    4) Mux everything w/ bbMPEG encode: video.m2v + audio1.mp2 + audio2.mp2 -> xxx.mpg

    You can switch audio tracks by hitting the audio button you your remote.
