  1. I've got several AVI movies, who're too big for a CD, so I wanna put it on a DVD. Is it possible? When yes, with which programme should I do it and how?
    Thanx a lot!

Use any dvd burning tool like Nero Burning Rom. Select ISO or ISO/UDF and add the AVI files.

Or do you want to make a dvd that works on standalone dvd player. Then click on a CONVERT and All-In-One DVD Converting in the menu here to the left.

If you just want to store the files on a larger DVD media to use on your computer or a player that will play DivX or Xvid like the Philips 642, just make a data DVD. I use Sonic MYDVD to burn data files to a DVD. If I knew this was possible before, I would've bought a DVD burner a long time ago instead of waiting for a 4.7 GB CD-R or CD-RW to come out.

  5. Well, as the admin said, I chosed Nero Burning ROM, thn a CD-ROM (UDf/ISO), added my AVI files n thn burned it, but its asking for a CD-ROM on which it's gotta burn! It's not accepting the DVD I put in. I wanna use this DVD for watching on a DVD player or even on a computer.
It's really not working....n BTW: Can I make a menu list like on a VCD?

    Go to TOOLS.

Use drop-down window to select TOOL FEATURES: SELECT CONVERSION FEATURE.

    Select AVI to DVD.

This will take you to a listing of various tools that will do the job.

If you want to use freeware, I have used The Film Machine, D.I.K.O., and
VSO DivXToDVD. They are all pretty easy to use.

I then use DVDShrink to burn to DVD. Select ISO mode and DVDShrink will encode the data to an ISO file and then DVDDecryptor will automatically launch to burn it to a blank DVD.

Read the guides associated with each software!

    Good luck!

It must be Nero. I don't know if Sonic MyDVD has a trialware version or not. I believe it sells for $70.

I have a LiteOn DVD combo drive that came with Sonic MyDVD. I used a 4.7GB Ritek DVD-R Disk. Opened MyDVD and selected Music or Data, Create a Music or Data Disc, Make a Data Disc, put in a blank DVD-R and selected the files or folders I wanted to use and clicked OK.

Twenty minutes later, I had a Data DVD full of XviD files that I could play on my Philips 642 DVD player.

It was alot easier than re-encoding all the files to a DVD format and burning a DVD from an image. That would've taken hours.

Of course not. You need to choose DVD option and not CD option. Then it will accept your blank DVD disk.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  9. i also use Nero. it allows me to make a menu for a vcd, but there's no step for making a menu when im burning a dvd. why is that? is there a way to make a menu in Nero when burning a dvd? sorry to ask questions in this post, but i think aliasfreak would benefit also from an answer.

but there's no step for making a menu when im burning a dvd. why is that? i
Because NERO is a burning program for DVD's, but an AUTHORING program for CD's (makes a VCD)..Menus get made in the AUTHORING stage...

As for aliasfreak, he needs a burn application that recognizes his particular
DVD burner..or to know how to select the proper JOB in NERO..a matter of opening the program, selecting the TARGET RECORDING DEVICE, then choosing CD or DVD...and a project type beyond that...(good luck)
