    any chance there is a way to go straight from VOB to mpeg2? my last DVD was quite a task, VOB to AVI, then to mpeg2. any faster methods?? thanks

    I could be wrong, but if you rename the vob extention to mpg, don't you then have an mpeg2 file?

    Try Xmpeg. I use version 4.2a. It works good for me, and it's pretty easy to use as well. I can't give you a link to where to DL it because I forgot, just search around, It's very easy to find.
