DVD's are already in VOB format and MPEG2 as far as I know. Open the DVD in Finder and copy the VOB files to your HDD.
Boom. One-step solution.
I doubt that's exactly what you meant, however, and wouldn't be surprised that a Tivo can't playback straight VOB files... so if you provide exact specs that the files need to be in for Tivo playback, I could be more helpful and less sarcastic
P.S. - I grew up in Westport, CT. Small world. -

Probably one of the DVD rippers (like MacX DVD Ripper Pro, there are others) to get the decrypted VOBs to your drive. Then, with the MPEG2 codec ($20-30, from Apple) and MPEG Streamclip, you may convert the entire movie's set of VOBs to a .ts file (without re-encoding). Will that provide what your Tivo requires?

Yeah, as Rumple mentioned, you'll probably need to decrypt them. I always forget about this, as VLC plays them back regardless, and all the software I use to rip automatically does content protection removal (Something like MakeMKV, which is available for OS X also, though I doubt the TiVo supports Matroska containers). Sorry about that...
