  1. I just got my latest issue in the mail today:

    MASSIVE MULTIMEDIA HOW-TO

Now that music and movies have gone all digital, it’s time to wrest control of your media. Make flawless rips of your DVDs for playback on laptops, portable video players, and even PDAs. Copy even protected audio discs and slip the tracks onto your MP3 player. Take purchased music and make it work on any portable digital player. Maximum PC shows you how to put the power back where it ought to be—in your hands.
I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but it looks interesting....

That copy writer has obviously never done any of the above. Nothing easy in any of that.

I made up my mind about 1-2 years ago that magazine writers are pretty much shit-for-brains and seem to rehash some of the worst (and out of date) information found on the net.

You need only pick up PC World or DV for several examples.

  8. They used to be cutting edge years ago; they introduced me to CloneCD. But now they are a bit behind the times. This last issue announced a "new" DVD burner and reviewed it........announcing the NEC 3500!!!!

When I brought to their attention that the 3500 had been discontinued for a few months and that the 3520 was just a bit different they tried to tell me that the two drives were identical. One was OEM and the other was Retail.

They still seem to be good for games and hardware other than DVD burners. They have yet to consider the quality of a burn and they don't seem to get the fact that some drives are rebadged. Also their prices are about 100% too high.
Still a few bugs in the system...

Damn right. A waste of 12 bucks. And every issue they announce " FREE CD INSIDE TONS OF MUST HAVE UTILITIES!!" open it up and youve a got ad-aware, trial of disk keeper etc. every month again and again. LOL

  10. I know this is an outdated topic but they did give a shout out to videohelp.com as one of the places to turn to.....saying it has the most in depth information and anything you ever wanted to know about converting anything to anything.....hehhee.

They did also say the site layout is hideous........ahhahahah.......then went on to doom9 saying its prettier but not as much info.
