    G'day Sifaga,

I do not know the answer to your question, however, I have been using Princo S/L DVD-R 4x blanks over the last 12 months and never have any problems. There are many, MANY posts on this site that say Princo is crap. I have no knowledge of the Princo's quality overseas but here in Australia, my friends and I all use Princo.

I have also used tons of Princo 4x inkjets with no problem. Now I use Ritek G04 inkjets, and have no reason to change.

Does anybody know about Datacells? 8x inkjets = $26.50/50, 4x inkjets = $24/50, from this great shop:

    www.xtreemtc.com.au

(They also got generic R210 cartridges for $9ea!)

I've also seen TDK spindles of 50 for $30 or so, but not sure if they're fake?

    Hey Blinky,

I started off using Princo's but i had problems with them. Ive had reading issues with the backups that i made using them.

Ive been using Ritek G04's but my last few spindles have had a few bad discs.

    NamPla,
    I like that www.xtreemtc.com.au shop in richmond, they got TY's for $35 for a 50 pack of DVD-R ,4X ,

i may give those a go next, or else I'll just stick with Ritek G04's

Sifaga, I must have missed those TY's!? (I only discovered this great little shop recently!).

Do you know if they're the real deal, "made in Japan" etc? $35 seems a very good price.

In their ad, they advertise those Datacells as "Still The Best!"... so I was just wondering about them. (No mention of Datacell in the "DVD Media" list here!).

    Cheers.

    Hi Sifaga,

    I can return the favour...

I've recently bought a pack of 50 printable (not to the hub) Ritek G05s for AUS$20 from one of the swap meets near me (South Yarra). I shopped around and that was a good deal - but there were loads of sellers.

I burn with a Prioneer DVR-108 and print with a Canon iPixma 5000. I've only had one coaster, and I think that's coz I was burning at 12x instead of 8x. That said, I burnt another at 12x and it came out OK.

Not used any other brands yet - I'm still "new" here...

    Hey NamPla,

    on their site it says
Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 4x - 50 Tub *Made in Japan. Surperb for video/data
i will try and get a spindle soon and post back my findings, $35 is abit more than the other spindles but people have raved about them so i just want to try them out.

The datacel dvd's on their site they say are CMC and there seem to be mixed feelings about CMC dvd's

    Hey Daamon,

$20 for a 50 pack is so cheap, i remember buying princos for $120 a few years back

i think the G05's are worth trying out as well

Tell me about it. And I checked 'em out with DVDInfo and they were legit.

I thought so, especially at that price.
