  1. Anyone know how to change the Com Port of something? My friend has a computer and the modem(Motorola Speakerphone Modem) and it says it's in COM3. However, the computer isn't recognizing COM3. It is only showing COM 1 & 2. I'm not sure if changing the COM Ports is a physical process or it's something you can change as far as settings on a computer.

The BIOS usually sets the COM ports. You can probably change it, but from my experience with modems, you would be better off to remove the modem, reboot, shut down then reinstall it and boot again and let the BIOS do it's thing.

But, go to the Device Manager and check the properties of the modem. It should show the com port. BIOS can create new ones easily. It's all in software. You can get things really screwed up with modems, particularly some models.

I would uninstall everything to do with the modem after you remove it, then reinstall it after the OS recognizes it. Use the latest drivers and see what happens. BTW, software modems are cheap. If it gives you too many problems, just replace it.
