    Some users have reported MP3 on DVD was playing fine on jvc xv-n5sl. I tried with a few dvd's, with and without Joliet but had no luck yet. Any ideas?

    Try a DVD-RW and make sure the MP3's are CBR.
    BTW...manufacturers change firmware in the players that add features and sometimes take away.

    Tried that, too. I should been more specific in the first post. All my dvd's comes up as "no disc" in my JVC-XV-N5SL but works fine in my other standalone. But users have reported having succes playing mp3's off of a dvd on the JVC.
