  1. I downloaded my vacation clips from DVCamera via Ulead video 8, then bought Benq 1620 dvd burner to complete the task of putting clips onto a dvd . The goal being to watch with home dvd player.
After destroying numerous dvd-r now moving into -rw I still can't get sound after i burn. I now have TMPGenc / and TMPGenc dvd author and have converted the files, and burned using these programs, but still no sound on the dvd. I downloaded some music video clips (avi) that i watched with no problem on Windows media player) converted and had same result- video but no audio. Now I have downloaded AC-3 ACM Decompressor and virtual dub, and am not sure what do do with them now that I've got them - can someone please tell me what I'm missing before I waste more time and $

    cheers

Buy the AC3 plug-in for TMPGENC DVD Author, or convert your audio track to 48Khz 16-bit PCM (wav) and use it instead. Also, is your audio in mpeg format? Your DVD player might not support it. You could also try encoding your audio to AC3 using Besweet.

Did you download using fire wire or USB. Have you tried using Windows movie maker to capture your files to the hard drive and if so did you get the same result- no audio. Also after capture with ULead, does the file play okay outside of Ulead using a different app to play the file? Determine that your capture was good from your DV camera.

  4. I used firewire to DL the clips which are broken into start and stop of the camera - so I have about 90 little dribs and drabs that i'm trying to combine. The file video and audio is excellent and I can view and hear these clips with Win media player. I'm using winxp pro but had problems with the Movie maker when i initially tried to download - hence I went to Ulead.

Forum Troll - when I used TMPGen i tried everyway. I created output video and audio as individual streams m2v +mp2. I created m2v with MPEG audio
still no sound. I have played movie dvd on player with no problems
I only have trial of TMPGen at this time but i thought the ac3 compressor would do the same as the plugin

  5. Open your file in virtualdub.
    Select Audio, Full processing.
    Select File, Save .WAV
This will save a large .wav file.
    Open tmpgenc.
Load the avi as the video source, and the newly saved .wav as the audio source.
    Encode as normal.

  6. I tried using virtualdub as suggested - when I try to save the wav file I get a "no audio compression error" I have reinstalled the AC3 Decompressor but still can't save the wave file

The Trial Version will only make MPEG-1 but your audio should be with it.
Try endoding one of the snipets with the System type as <System (Video+Audio). Until you get the finished file right, use a small avi and step through the process of encoding, editing, authoring and burning. Check the burned disc (RW) for function.

When you select your Video Source: with the Stream type as 'System', the audio should be present in the Audio Source: box.
